Robbie Gómez is a songwriter who spends all day thinking of melodies, lyrics, bass lines, and drum beats. Sometimes all night, too. Definitely in the shower. Gómez is lucky to be partners with the videographer dd. chu. Gómez loves the way the right song can bring a unique energy to a scene. His music conveys imagery, emotion, and concepts that often come from or are inspired by the visual realm. His influences include Paul Simon, Bill Callahan, HAIM, David Byrne, Ryuchi Sakamoto, and Lauryn Hill, to name a few. In the past he has collaborated with Daniel Ellsworth, Alva Leigh, Cristina Taddonio, dd. chu, and many others along his musical journey from Alabama to Nashville to NYC. His most recent release is South, a four-song EP. Gómez began releasing his own songs in 2020 beginning with the instrumental album Gó and followed by the singles It Doesn’t Matter and Lossless. Recent releases include a rock EP, Bad Intentions, and the singles Leave the Light On and Just Us. Robbie has also collaborated with dd. chu, creating the sound design for the short experimental film hold--fuel--when--burning (2020) and contributing music to the short film Even the Sun Moves (ongoing).
As a freelance songwriter, composer, and mixing/mastering engineer, Robbie wants to create meaningful music in collaboration with a larger artist community, particularly independent and developing artists/creators who need access to and support from musicians outside of major label/studio environments. Robbie’s need to be creative is balanced and fueled by an independent and flexible workflow that allows space and time for a variety of creative outlets and a lifestyle that honors community, relationships, and self-care.
